Tom Owen funeral, burial service pictures, date, time, venue

Tom Owen, real name Thomas William Stevenson Rowbotham, was a British actor who appeared in the longest-running sitcom in history, Last of the Summer Wine, as Tom Simmonite from 8 April 1949 to 8 November 2022. He was the son of Bill Owen, who played William “Compo” Simmonite, Tom Simmonite’s father in the show.

In 1968, Owen made his television debut as Bill Cowan in the revolutionary Southern TV series Freewheelers, for which he appeared in 52 episodes. Following that, numerous television programs were created, including The Piglet Files, Wreckers at Deadeye, Horse in the House, and Tottering Towers.

James and William were Owen and Mary Bernadette Therese Moylan’s sons, born in 1978.

Owen died on November 8, 2022, at the age of 73.

A private family service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at Sosebee Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Arbor Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The services will take place on Sunday 6 November 2022.
